Our Story

In the local tongue, Moditlo (Mo-dee-tlo) means "Place of the Elephant." We didn’t choose the name to sound poetic; the land chose it for us. This riverbank has belonged to the giants for centuries; we are simply the guests lucky enough to be invited in.

We are the proud guardians of the Blue Canyon Conservancy, a vital, thriving piece of the Greater Kruger puzzle. Here, the borders are imaginary but the encounters are very real. Because we share an open boundary with the wild, the Big 5 move through our backyard with the same sovereignty they have held for thousands of years. You’re not just visiting a reserve; you’re entering an ecosystem that doesn't answer to anyone but nature.
